UP Bhulekh khataunis show area in hectares. Families still say "1 bigha 11 biswa". Here is how to get from one to the other, step by step.
Worked example: khatauni shows 0.4000 hectare (UP).
- Multiply by 79.0737: 0.4 × 79.0737 = about 31.6295 biswa.
- Take out whole bigha. A pucca bigha is 20 biswa, so 31.6295 is 1 bigha with about 11.6295 biswa left over.
- Take out whole biswa: 11 biswa, with 0.6295 left.
- Turn the rest into biswansi. A biswa has 20 biswansi: 0.6295 × 20 = about 12.59 biswansi.
So 0.4 hectare is about 1 bigha 11 biswa 12.59 biswansi in pucca units.
